Hi! My name is Lily and I am currently a sophmore at Syracuse University majoring in Magazine, News, and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and International Relations at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. I grew up in San Francisco, and spent much of my childhood outdoors exploring my city and the rest of the Bay Area - this instilled in me admiration, love, and respect for the planet we call home.
I attended International High School - an International Baccalaureate school in San Francisco - where I was encouraged to think critically about my role in modern society. Politics and the current socio-politcal climate were particularly intersting to me, and I've always had a love for writing, which led me to look into universities that would allow me to pursue both of these interests at a higher level. Syracuse ended up being the place where I could do both - as a dually enrolled student, I've been given the space to explore both writing and politics, and hope to put the skills I am learning here to use to make our world a more humane, nuturing, and respectful place.
I grew up playing competitive soccer for the San Francisco Seals, but made the switch to rowing when I walked onto the Syracuse Women's team my freshman year as a way to stay active and meet new friends. Walking on was hard - I had never rowed before coming to Syracuse - but the overall experience has been rewarding and the team has become my home-away-from-home.
